Respect the Grid

Dan Tocchini wants to change how we use the web. His website design startup The Grid have had almost 50,000 founding members and they might just pull it off. For all of the advances in how we use the Internet in recent years, the options for the average person who needs to make a website can still be simultaneously dizzying and uninspiring.

Google is to Machine Learning, as the Grid is to Constraint Programming

"Machine" + "Learning" ... Oh, the beauty, the contrast, the tension of mechanical hardness possessed with the infinite fluidness of mind.  ("Constraint" || "Logic") + ("Programming" || "Satisfaction" || "Solvers") ... No contrast, no inspiration inducing tension.

There's another web out there, a better web hiding just below the surface of the one we surf from our phones and tablets and laptops every day. A web with no ads, no endlessly scrolling pages, and no annoying modal windows begging you to share the site on social media or sign up for a newsletter.
What was once just a figment of the imagination of some our most famous science fiction writers, artificial intelligence (AI) is taking root in our everyday lives. We're still a few years away from having robots at our beck and call, but AI has already had a profound impact in more subtle ways.
